Fennel Seeds
Bold green Lucknowi & Europe-quality saunf
CBIL supplies Indian fennel seed (saunf) from the Unjha and Rajasthan belts in the grades buyers specify: bold green Lucknowi — the premium, deep-green, bold-berry grade that mouth-freshener and confectionery buyers pay up for — Europe quality for blending and grinding, and standard machine-cleaned material for volume applications. Colour retention is the commercial marker, and it is a function of crop, drying and storage rather than something that can be corrected downstream, so current-crop sourcing matters. Volatile oil typically runs 1.5–2.5% and drives the anethole-led aroma that extraction buyers target.
Material is machine-cleaned, Sortex colour-sorted and metal-detected, with SGS or Intertek certification of purity, moisture, volatile oil, ash, admixture and pesticide residue, plus steam-sterilised and ETO-free options for EU and US entry. Fennel feeds mouth-freshener and confectionery production, herbal and digestive teas, spice blending, bakery and essential-oil extraction. We arrange 25kg and 50kg PP or jute bags, container-load, on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, whole or ground.

Fennel Seeds — buyer questions
What makes bold green Lucknowi fennel a premium grade?
Berry size and colour. Lucknowi material is bolder and holds a deeper green, which is what mouth-freshener and confectionery buyers are paying for because the seed is visible in the finished product. For ground applications where colour does not carry through, Europe quality usually delivers the same functional result at a lower cost.
Can fennel colour be improved after harvest?
Not legitimately. Green colour is set by crop, drying and storage conditions — anything that brightens it afterwards is an adulterant and a regulatory risk. We source current-crop material with the colour already in it and certify against dye adulteration.
