Green Coffee Beans
Arabica & robusta, differential-priced off ICE
CBIL brokers green (unroasted) coffee across the arabica and robusta trade, connecting origin exporters and cooperatives with roasters, importers and industrial buyers. Coffee prices differently from the rest of this book: arabica references the ICE "C" contract in US cents per pound and robusta the ICE London contract in USD per tonne, so physical lots are quoted as a differential — plus or minus so many cents over the relevant month — rather than as a flat range. Contracts are written on origin and mark, screen size, defect count on the NY or SCA scale, moisture and water activity, process (washed, natural, honey or pulped natural) and, for specialty, a cup score. Lots ship in 60 or 70 kg jute bags, GrainPro or equivalent barrier liners, or bulk container liners at around 21.6 MT, against ICO certificates of origin, phytosanitary documentation and — for European destinations — EUDR geolocation and due-diligence data.
