Cement & Clinker

CBIL brokers Portland cement, cement clinker and white cement between the exporting mills of the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia and the grinding units, distributors and project buyers that draw on them. Clinker is the bulk flow of the trade and it is bought on chemistry (C3S, lime saturation factor, free lime) rather than strength, in 25,000–55,000 MT Handysize and Supramax parcels; cement is bought on EN 197-1 or ASTM C150 strength class and moves as 50 kg sacks in sling bags or in bulk; white cement adds whiteness and Fe₂O₃ to the sheet and prices at a multiple of grey. UN Comtrade 2025 export declarations under HS 2523 put Indonesia at 13.98 million MT (USD 32/MT), Egypt at 10.19 million MT (USD 82), Pakistan at 8.85 million MT (USD 38) and Saudi Arabia at 8.05 million MT (USD 40). CBIL already corresponds with exporters in Turkiye, Egypt, Vietnam and the UAE and with clinker importers in West Africa and Bangladesh, and its chartering desk (LaycanDesk) quotes the freight leg alongside the cargo so an FOB offer becomes a CFR number to your berth. Alongside cement sit the two supplementary materials that cut the clinker share: granulated blast furnace slag and ground GGBS under HS 2618.00, bought on glass content or on activity index to EN 15167-1 and ASTM C989 Grades 80, 100 and 120, where UN Comtrade 2024 export declarations put China at 13.89 million MT and Japan at 10.49 million MT; and coal fly ash under HS 2621.90, bought on ASTM C618 Class F or Class C, loss on ignition and fineness, where India declared 5.61 million MT and Japan 2.51 million MT. Cement has been a CBAM good since 1 January 2026; slag and fly ash under HS 2618 and 2621 are not on the CBAM Annex I list.
