Softer penetration grade for cooler climates & surface dressing

Bitumen 80/100 carries a penetration at 25°C of 80–100 dmm and a softening point of 45–52°C — a softer, more ductile binder than 60/70, with ductility at 25°C of ≥ 100 cm, flash point ≥ 225°C and solubility ≥ 99.0%. CBIL brokers it against EN 12591 (the 70/100 band), ASTM D946 and the equivalent national road-authority specs, with the full penetration, softening point and RTFOT-residue panel certified by SGS or Intertek at load port. The lower softening point is not a defect: it is the whole reason the grade exists, and it is what your specification is buying.

A buyer picks 80/100 over 60/70 when low-temperature performance matters more than high-temperature rut resistance — cooler and temperate climates, cold-weather laying windows, and pavements where thermal cracking is the failure mode being designed against rather than deformation. It is also the preferred feedstock for cutback bitumen (MC/RC grades) and for surface dressing and chip seal work, because the softer binder wets aggregate at lower mixing temperatures and holds chippings through the first winter. Specify 60/70 instead if your pavement sees sustained high summer temperatures or heavy commercial traffic, where 80/100 will rut. Supply is arranged from UAE, Bahrain, Iran and Singapore loading points on FOB, CFR and CIF terms, in new steel drums (150/180 kg), 300 kg jumbo bags, bitutainers or hot-bulk vessel.
